The Address free-standing bookcase answers a specific design challenge: how can a bookcase move beyond flat two-dimensionality to work across all three spatial dimensions? The solution lies in the configuration of this tree-style bookcase, which develops 360° around a vertical axis.
During the design phase, each shelf can be positioned at any desired height, as well as rotated and fixed in a preferred position, thereby adding depth to the project.
The creative freedom offered by this ceiling-mounted bookcase and its round shelves allows for infinite configurations, whether against a wall or at the centre of a room. One can explore geometric symmetry or a perfect spiral; reproduce the dynamism of chaos by arranging multiple modules with only apparent randomness; or create room-dividing elements at the heart of a space. By pairing several modular bookcases, the soft curvature of the shelves suggests a natural path to follow through the room. A single element positioned away from the wall becomes a decorative bookcase with a surprising scenic impact, much like a sculpture or a work of art.
Each shelf is composed of round trays in prized wood, suspended at various heights, with lower edges that are rounded inwards and an elegant curvature that tapers towards the outside.
